Invitation to the webinar "Trainings & Tools: How to prepare for disasters"

We kindly invite you to the third webinar of the international Sonar-Cities project. The project explores vulnerability and health consequences in the context of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic in six European cities, including Ljubljana.

At this webinar, entitled Trainings & Tools: How to prepare for disasters, which will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., we and our partners will present existing training courses and tools for natural disaster preparedness that we have mapped within the framework of the project.

Preparing for disasters requires not only the right tools, but also the right knowledge and capacity. These must reflect the real needs and contexts of responders, planners, and communities across Europe. In this webinar, we ask: How do we identify which trainings are effective, and what tools are still missing? How can co-creation help ensure that preparedness efforts are relevant, practical and widely useable?

We will explore these questions through discussion, which will feed into the process of co-creating new toolkits for disaster preparedness.

The webinar will be held in English. The main part will be recorded and posted on the project's YouTube channel, where you can already find recordings of previous webinars.

The webinar will be co-hosted by dr. Uršula Lipovec Čebron and dr. Urša Valič. The discussion workshops will be coled by dr. Nežka Struc and Pia Krampl. All are part of the Ljubljana research group of the Sonar-Cities project at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.
